Provenate vs Catalyst
Provenate vs Catalyst Bottle ERP: NetSuite app or purpose-built?
Bottle ERP is Catalyst's distillery app for NetSuite. Provenate is a distillery system on its own. The real choice is whether you want NetSuite to run your whole company.
The honest version
A platform decision, not a feature war
Catalyst is a NetSuite consultancy offering implementation, integration, training and support. Its distillery product, Bottle ERP, is a NetSuite app with a visual production planner, real-time quality checks, work orders on the go, warehouse management through Catalyst WMS Go, cask management, and automated LPA and duty reporting. Because it runs inside NetSuite, choosing Bottle ERP means adopting NetSuite as your ERP, delivered through Catalyst's implementation service.
Provenate is purpose-built distillery software delivered as SaaS. There is no separate ERP to buy or implement: production, casks, HMRC figures and cost per litre of pure alcohol sit in one system, and orders post to the accounting or ERP system you already run through native connectors. If NetSuite is already your company-wide ERP, or you want it to be, Bottle ERP keeps the distillery inside it. If you want distillery software without an ERP project, that is the gap Provenate fills.
Provenate is a distillery ERP for whisky distilleries, independent bottlers and bonded warehouses — production, cask stock, HMRC duty returns (W1, W5, Alcohol Duty) and finance in one platform — built in East Lothian, Scotland by Third Platform Technologies and used by Ardnamurchan, Isle of Harris and Adelphi.
It also keeps blockchain-anchored cask and bottle provenance records, includes a built-in AI assistant (Beta), and connects through native Xero, QuickBooks, SAP and Salesforce connectors, a REST API and webhooks.

FAQ
Provenate vs Catalyst: common questions
Is Bottle ERP suitable for a craft distillery?
Catalyst positions Bottle ERP for small and mid-sized drinks businesses, but it runs inside NetSuite, so you are adopting a full ERP. A craft distillery that wants production, casks, duty and finance without an ERP project is usually a better fit for purpose-built software like Provenate.
How much do Provenate and Bottle ERP cost?
Neither publishes prices. Provenate quotes on the size of your operation. Catalyst's pages ask you to contact them to purchase, and Bottle ERP runs on NetSuite, so the NetSuite subscription is part of the decision too.
Do both handle HMRC returns?
Catalyst lists automated LPA and duty reporting and an HMRC connection for the W report. Provenate builds W1 and W5 figures and monthly Alcohol Duty figures from the movements already recorded, with every line traceable to casks and orders. See our W1 and W5 guide.
How long does it take to move to Provenate?
Most sites are live within 2–4 weeks, including data migration from your current spreadsheets or system and training for your team. Catalyst's public pages don't state implementation timelines.
Does Catalyst have an AI assistant?
Catalyst's public pages don't mention an AI assistant. Provenate includes a built-in AI assistant, currently in Beta: ask “how many litres of 2019 bourbon casks are in Warehouse 3?” and get the answer without building a report.
